Poor air quality caused by traffic pollution can be highly detrimental to unborn babies, increasing the risk of premature births, shows a Californian study published in the journal ‘Environmental Health’. The findings associate exposure to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), toxic traffic pollutants, with a 30% increase in preterm births.
